My Husband’s Favorite

Oh those never ending dishes! We all need to eat to live which inevitably causes many dirty dishes in the process .  Before Norwex, dealing with our stinky dish sponge (or cloth) wasn’t fun. I felt like it always smelled nasty no matter what I did! Bacteria LOVES living in those damp, soapy, covered-in-food-bits sponges/dish rags which causes the odor.

The solution? You have to try the Dish Cloth! The Dish Cloth is a netted nylon cloth used either folded or scrunched up. Simply use wet with your dish liquid. I have had mine for almost three years and it’s still going strong (saving me tons of $ on sponges and stink hassle). I try to give one away at my Norwex parties because this cloth is SO used in my home!

Pros:

*Scrubs dishes really well. Gets dried egg off with ease and does not scratch.

*Does not stink

*Dries quickly

*Durable and inexpensive

*Great for getting dried dough off counter tops

Cons:

*Can be too big for some people (could cut it in half)

*Drippy

*Cannot use to clean counters

What are your thoughts on the netted dish cloth?

My Microfiber Favorites

Of course I believe that every new Norwexer should have the Enviro cloth, Window cloth, and Dusting mitt (also known as the Household Package).

1202-household-package

With these three things, here are just some of the things you can eliminate from your home, saving you $$ and health:

Paper Towels

Bleach

Your All Purpose Surface cleaners (you know the brands ;-))

Dusting Spray

Bathroom cleaners

That blue window cleaner

Carpet stain remover

Granite cleaner

and more…

There are a few more things in my home that I would classify as my favorites.

The bathroom scrub mitt! I love that bathroom cleaning is no longer an aerobic exercise. This silver embedded mitt never smells and has a rougher side that is great for getting all the soap scum, foot dirt, and anything else out of your nasty tub, shower, or sink. Leave it hanging in the shower and merrily clean your surroundings while feeling the warm water beat upon your back.

norwex-Bathroom-Scrub-MittThe Magic Wand or Magic Sword according to my boys! (also known as the Norwex Enviro Wand). This thing bends and great for those nasty ceiling fans, hard to reach dusty ledges, blinds, appliances and more and more and more…

Envirowand

And last and more certainly NOT least…the Superior MOP! I love that I only need water to clean my new hardwood floors. I love that I can quickly and easily use the dry pad to remove the husband hair off the bathroom floor. It reaches in far and seemingly impossible places. It’s made for years of use. Want it for FREE? Share Norwex with your friends and host a party or start your own Norwex business and get it in the start up kit. Enough said.

Freedom

When joining Norwex as a consultant, my main focus was to spread the word about cleaning without chemicals and I really viewed it as a “hobby”. I was not a party person and sales really made me scared. So the thought of really treating Norwex as a business was not there. But I truly believed in the product and how it could help people (beliefs are powerful!). One party led to another and another and I soon saw that I didn’t need to be a sales person to tell people about Norwex. I was educating and then letting them decide what products to use in their homes.

Having a Norwex business has given me so much freedom…

Freedom in the flexibility of the business. I am a stay-at-home mom and I can work when I want and how long I want without being forced to leave my kids.

Freedom in running my own business. I don’t have a boss (well, I take that back. The man of the house is my boss but the best boss there is. Otherwise I wouldn’t have married him!) and I run the business how I want.

Freedom in finances. I was amazed that I could bring home $500/month by going out twice/month and sharing Norwex with others.  Norwex has helped pay many things that have come up and also given me the freedom to get some of those “extras”.

I love what I do. I love that I get to stand behind a product that helps people and I love helping people also have the same gift of a Norwex business that I’m blessed to have. We need help!! Most of America still does not know about Norwex and I can’t spread the word alone! The starter kit is free (with a minimal sales) and the sky is the limit!

Does it work??

I wanted to test the effectiveness of the Norwex cloth right in my very own kitchen. Norwex claims that their cloths remove all contaminants from a surface with just water but the science in me wanted to conduct my own experiment and compare Norwex with other popular cleaners. First I smeared raw chicken all over the counter and then cleaned the surface with each cleaner. I used a ProClean testing swab (a protein testing strip used by the food industry to test for surface cleanliness)  to see if the surface was truly clean. The color on the swab indicates how contaminated my counter still was after using the specified cleaner (Here is a graph showing how the test swabs indicate whether or not there is protein left on the surface)

weber-scientific-chartAs you can see, GREEN is clean and contaminant free and any shade of grey or purple means there is still protein on the surface. Here are my findings:

swabresults

There was only ONE completely green swab…the Norwex cloth and WATER! Norwex truly leaves a clean and residue free surface without the nasty smelly chemicals. Why waste $$ on that other stuff when it doesn’t even work effectively??

New to Norwex? These are my favorites for people just getting started and while using them (and eliminating tons of useless cleaners), you can be assured that they are truly cleaning your home effectively!

How to Care for your Norwex Cloths

I would like to show you are easy it is to launder your Norwex microfiber. Yes, you DO wash these cleaning cloths! Thank goodness we don’t need to launder them very often thanks to the awesome silver agent in the cloths but when we do, it’s super easy.

UPP

There are three easy rules to follow to optimize the performance of your cloths and increase the lifespan of them:

1. Do not use bleach when washing

2. Do not use fabric softener (liquid OR the sheets)

3. Do not wash them with a load of linty things (like towels or sweaters). The BEST load to wash them with would be a load of cotton bedsheets. This is a very low lint load.

After washing, simply throw them in the dryer (without the dryer sheets!) and dry.

Here are a few other things to consider. Most over-the-counter laundry detergent is packed FULL of fillers (please look up what those fillers are! You will want to throw out all that detergent because the very thought of wearing them on your clothes and next to your skin is unbearable!). Fillers never dissolve and will build up in your cloths and coat the fibers. Here is a good visual of what I mean:

jarsThere is one loads worth of detergent in each jar. The two jars on the left are two name brand detergents. See all that junk (filler) in the jars? The jar on the right is Norwex UPP detergent; clear and filler free.

I highly recommend getting a filler free detergent like Norwex Ultra Power Plus because not only does it wash your cloths SUPER well and increase their performance, I also love this detergent because:

*It’s highly concentrated. So it lasts until the cows come home. I use 1 tsp in my front loader (crazy eh??) which makes the bag last for over 200 loads!! If you have a top loader, only a Tbs works awesomely.

*The UPP is 100% biodegradable and free of phosphates and fillers

*It’s safe for all fabric

Over time you may need to “deep clean” your microfiber, which is also simple. Boil some water, remove from heat and add 1 TBS of the UPP detergent. Soak your cloths all at once overnight and voila, you have successfully removed all the built up junk! You’ll be amazed at how dirty your water will be! You can do this trick to deep clean other articles of clothing as well.

Here are some other hints when laundering your cloths:

If your cloths are heavily soiled or filled with grease, you can boil them for 10 min (up to three times a year)

If you have hard water, minerals may build up in your cloth. Simply soak in vinegar and then boil. Or add some vinegar to your rinse cycle

Do not iron, do not microwave

With proper care your cloths will last way past the 2 year warranty and save you tons of money and exposure to toxic chemicals!
