Little Hippo

My 6th born has acquired the nickname of “Little Hippo”. When he hears this name called from afar, a smile soon appears on his sweet face. I feel like I learn more and more about chemicals with each baby that I have. Like the fact that tt only takes 26 seconds for the chemicals in personal care products to enter the bloodstream! That is CRAZY to me! Please guys, read the label on everything that you put on your baby, your children, and on YOU. There are alternatives out there that don’t cause more work for you and keep you little people healthier.

From day 1, we have used the Norwex Baby Cloths on our Little Hippo. This is a mini version of the Body Cloths. This soft microfiber will gently clean skin without needing soap (it even removes makeup really well with only water!). During dry winter months, I like to use Shea Butter on his skin where I notice any dry patches. Using a safe and clear laundry detergent is also SO important for little people skin! Know what’s in your detergent! That’s pretty much it! See, not complicated!

It doesn’t need to be more expensive and harder to be safer with what you use in our home and on our bodies. Make baby steps to improve the quality of life around you and your children will watch you as you grow in this. Happy May and Happy Safe Havens!

Our Dinner Table – Cloth Napkins

attachment-1Kids get real messy at mealtime. Face, hands and sometimes more. If my kids don’t have something to use to wipe their hands throughout their meal, their shirt WILL become their cleaning tool. I don’t like buying paper towels and the throw-away-after-one-use type napkins. I would rather use the money for some tasty cheese or ice-cream and I’m not a fan of contributing to my local landfill for such things. Plus with messy kids they don’t work very well anyways. I tried the cloth napkin route and that worked for a season but it didn’t 100% suite my fancy. I became tired of laundering cloth napkins after a kid only used it once.

cloth-napkinsNow I have a system that I like. At meal times, each child receives a damp mini (travel size) Enviro Cloth. When mealtime is over, I simply rinse the cloths out, hang to dry, and allow the BacLock silver agent to clean the cloth between meals. I LOVE that I don’t
have to care/worry about who gets what cloth since I have peace of mind that there will be no cross contamination. If my Claire uses pink at breakfast, my Elliott can use the same pink at lunch.

I also like using the Travel Size Enviro Cloths in the car, while I’m out and about (shopping carts, kid’s hands, cell phone, etc.).

What Cloth for What Job?

I often get the question from people “what cloth for what job??” at my parties. Especially when it comes to kitchen cleaning. Norwex offers an array of cloths/products for our homes but this is not to over complicate matters. Once we know what jobs we need to target in our homes we can choose the appropriate cloth. This lovely chart clearly breaks it down for you. My must haves that I use in my home very regularly to clean include the Enviro (think Everything!) cloth, window cloth, dusting mitt, kitchen cloths/towels, bathroom scrub mitt, and the dish cloth (not listed in the chart). 12563_What_Cloth_for_What_Job_US_CDN_Final_LR
